    WA Indian Festival – Dance, Music, Fashion and Food Galore

    The Indian Festival presented by the Jain Community of Western Australia is on this Sunday 16th March 2014 from 11am to 5pm. The day's festivities provides a great opportunity to learn about Indian culture through dance, music, fashion, and food, and other cultural activities that has been brought to us by the Indian communities in Western Australia.

    Here are some of the activity highlights that you can look forward to when visiting the Indian Festival at Joondalup Arena:

    Let’s Dance - Bollywood Anyone?

    Who is your favourite Bollywood star and why? We’ve got our own local Perth born actress Pallavi Sharda, featured on 60 Minutes, who is making it big in Bollwood. Indulge in the glitz and glamour of Indian dancing with Bollywood dancing brought to you by the Academy of Indian Dance and Josh Nach Sangeet, as well as other dance forms such as Bharatnatyam Indian Classical dance, Indian Odissi and fusion dance.

    Cooking Demonstrations

    There will be cooking demonstrations of popular dishes such as gulab jamun a favourite Indian sweet, spinach and potato curry and birds nest.

    The bird nests cooking demonstration will be shown by Mrs Rina Shah, who was the winner of the Jain Community of Western Australia - Vegetarian Finger Foods Cooking Competition last year. With her dish "Birds Nest" judged as the best from a tasty array of delicious dishes, you will have a chance to learn from the expert and discover her cooking secrets.

    The Desi Networks

    This year's Indian festival will feature the Desi Networks smashing Bhangra, Bollywood, DJ Mash ups, International hits and more. Hear the top 10 of their best new tracks during the festival.

    Indian Fashion Show

    There will be an Indian fashion show brought to us by Daminy at 145pm on the day. As well as enjoying the glitz and glamour of Indian fashion on the day, you'll also be able to view the latest body art fashions from the Catwalks of Bollywood or have a unique design created for you.

    Shop for Bargains

    If you are looking for some authentic Indian jewelry, accessories or clothing, then you’ll be looking forward to picking up a bargain or two on the day, as there will be stalls galore offering a range of Indian products and services including Indian costumes, clothing, and jewellery.

    Keynote Speakers

    The health and lifestyle segment of this festival will provide visitors with the opportunity to learn more about healthy practices such as yoga, meditation, vegetarian food, and other distinct practices of the Indian culture. Guest speakers will be on hand to demonstrate techniques.

    It's going to be a huge day at the WA Indian Festival. You can catch all the action at the Joondalup Arena this Sunday 16th March, from 11am to 5pm.
